Wedding makeup, A good Artist? or a good brand?

Just wondering if its getting a good make-up artist that makes the difference or the actual brand e.g. Chanel,Estee Lauder,Dior etc etc

If you are getting married or have got married, would you pay alot for a good make-up artist?

what brand did you use or recomend and why?

would it be better to do yourself or not? or have you had a bad experience perhaps?Wedding makeup, A good Artist? or a good brand?
i am still debating doing my own or having a trusted friend do it for me.

i'm leaning to her doing it.

i would probably have a girl from the bobby brown counter at macys come if my friend wasn't available. i love their stuff and it doesn't feel heavy on me when i go for makeovers at the mall.

i do like the mineral make up, i got stuff from avon that i really like.

my friend just got married and paid A LOT for her make up.

she and 2 bms said they are breaking out now after the wedding bcse of the make up. they washed it all off after the reception too.Wedding makeup, A good Artist? or a good brand?
I dont wear a lot of make up and I find it quite easy to do. I would not be able to afford a make up artist for my wedding but I would be happy to do my own. I would probably buy some new make up a few weeks/months before the wedding and try it to see if Iike it, eg mascara - not all of them are good or make your lashes look how you want them to. also you could check if you are allergic to it and you could have plenty of time to practise your make up for the day and then by your wedding day it will be second nature and you wont worry about it!
see if your hairstylist does makeup. My stylist is one of my best friends and carries his own MAC makeup case. He is amazing at doing makeup. I was a bridesmaid in a wedding last month and my hair and makeup was so chic and modern. He will be doing my hair and makeup for my wedding which i know will look amazing. so i would try to be friends with your stylist! maybe they will give you a discount.
The best make up brand out there is Bare Minerals. Don't buy a knock off of it.

I've always done my own make up and couldn't imagine putting that task in someone else's hands... But then again, I have seen how some people do their own.

Bare Minerals covers amazingly! Get that stuff and then find an artist if needed.
I bought Elizabeth Arden make-up but usually only wear a bit of lippy and eyeshadow myself so had the beautician at my hairdressers apply it for me and it only cost 拢25 and she did a wonderful job. I would have been too nervous to do it myself anyway
I did it myself because I don't trust others doing my make up. BUt as per your question... it is not on the brand of make used on your face it is the knowledge and the expertise of the make - up artist to make you radiant and stand out on your wedding day.
If you don't want to go to an expensive make up artist, just go to the mall, where they have a mac counter and have the lady do it for you. It will look great!! Good luck!!!!
WHY NOT TRY A FREE MAKE OVER IN DEBENHAMS IN THE MORNING OF THE WEDDING MY DAUGHTER DID WITH HER TIARA ON TOO
I personally use Pur Minerals - every day. It's pretty much the same thing as Bare Escentuals, but a little cheaper. I find that I can get a foundation powder that matches my skin tone much better through Pur.

I did have my make up done by a professional, and she used a combination of my own make up, and a ';professional grade'; B.E. (you can't find it in the stores, but I did look for it. It's a step up from the B.E.)

If I were you, I'd go to an Ulta store, and talk to the makeup specialists there. They can help you pick a make up that will work with your skin tone and complexion. And they do have make overs there, so you can ';Try before you buy';.

Just so you know, both B.E. and Tru will cost you close to $200 (if not more) to replace all your makeup... It's so worth it though.

Good luck, and Congratulations!
I put on my own make up everyday and I am getting married on June 21st...I am getting a make up artist to do mine because I don't want to have to stress out about it not being perfect or looking the same as always...Also as far as the cost a lot of hair salons do make up you just have to call and ask if they do it and how much they charge and if you want to spend the money to try a expensive brand of make up then it is actually cheaper to hire a make up artist....I just had my trial run for my hair and make up (HIGHLY RECOMMEND) and it turned out amazing!!!!!
